Live Update from C&C

Sunday afternoon and nothing to do so, so P-Bluntz here chillin' with Cloth & Canvas while they spend some quality time jammin' and working on some stuff. About 4 weeks to go until the Finals performance of Survival of the Bands 2, and it's time to the nose to the grindstone and make sure that they give everyone who's there a performance that they'll never forget.

Now this is a live update, so I thought I'd update you all on what's going on. So...here's a timeline:

7:25 - Hassan's laying down some of stuff that's been stewing in his head. It's cool to be able to see as music's created.

6:45 - Bette Middler's not gonna wait for Cyncha D, so she's gotta bounce. dReW and Eoj are gonna work on 'That's How', along with working on some other stuff. Right now it's a brief hiatus for nicotine.

6:15 - Eoj has arrived and we're settling in. Hassan just sang his newest song "Hooky." A heavy Swing influence backs Hassan as he sings about the first time he played hooky. I've heard this song from its birth and I think you'll all like it too.

5:45PM - We're currently working on bringing back something from Cyncha D's portfolio, a Lounge-influenced vocal piece called 'That's How'. Backed by smooth tones from the band, Cyncha pours her heart and soul out for you with her beautiful voice.

That's it for now. I'll update and post videos as I get to it.

Peace!!

Cloth And Canvas on to the Finals @ Survival of the Bands!!

Hey there all. P-Bluntz back again with an update to C&C's progress through Survival of the Bands.

You might have noticed already, but Cloth and Canvas emerged victorious in their semi-final round and are through to the Finals! They had some stiff competition this week, going up against Rooftop Ridicule and Grocery Store Rejects. After a hard-fought battle among all three excellent acts, C&C and Grocery Store Rejects were selected to move on to the Finals.

A couple of firsts this show. It was the first performance with the band's new bassist Eoj, and even though he's only had a few weeks of rehearsal, it sounded like he's been jammin' with C&C since the beginning. It was also the debut of Jus-B's original song 'I'm Gonna Have You'. Babymaking music is all I can say. Babymaking music.

So...it's gonna be a tough 4 weeks for Cloth and Canvas as they prepare for this final. Come out and support the band, September 12 @ Gallo's Pizza Kitchen. I'll be sure to update you all with further details as they become available.

Once again, congrats to C&C and Grocery Store Rejects!!

Peace...

Cloth And Canvas - Semifinal Round - Survival of the Bands

What's up everybody!! Your man P-Bluntz here. I know I haven't posted in a while, sometimes life just gets in the way.

Anyways, down to business. Cloth And Canvas, after a brief hiatus to re-organize and recharge their batteries, is back and ready to rock! I'd first like to extend my welcome to Eoj as C&C's new bassist, and I'd like to wish Chris (Magpie) good luck in all his future endeavors. Keep on rockin' bro!

After a few weeks of intense rehearsals, Cloth And Canvas is ready for the next stage of their quest to make their mark on the Vegas music scene. This Sunday, August 9th, is the semi-final stage of Survival of the Bands, hosted by Gallo's Pizza Kitchen. They're going up against three other acts, Grocery Store Rejects, Rooftop Ridicule and Joshua Judges Ruth. Stiff competition for sure, but I'm confident that the guys, and girl, of C&C will come out on top.

Show kicks off @ 7PM, with Cloth And Canvas anchoring the evening. $10 dollar cover, but that includes all-you-can-eat pizza and soda. And let me tell you, Gallo's pizza is off the freakin' HOOK! I should know...I eat a lot.

So once again, come out to Gallo's to support! We guarantee it'll be a good time. Good music, good food, what else do you need?

Til next time...

4/24 @ Gallo's Pizza Kitchen

Wattup ya'll! P-Bluntz here with another update!

Last Friday, 4/24, Cloth And Canvas had a show at Gallo's Pizza Kitchen for the second round of Survival of the Bands II. Once again, a great set, and a great show overall. Props to -K- for putting on a great night.

Unfortunately, Cloth And Canvas was not selected to advance, but scored high enough to be in the running for a Wild Card spot for Round III. I'll let you all know of any further details as they come available. Congratulations to all those moving on, and wish everyone luck in their future endeavors.

I also want to let everyone know that C&C will be playing this FRIDAY, MAY 1st for First Friday's Art and Music Celebration at Neon Venus! Doors open at 7PM (we're scheduled to go on around 10:45ish), and features acts by Neon Venus and Rubik's Hotel, as well as a really funny improv comedy troupe, and an Art Installation.

All ages show, $2 donation at the door. Hope to see everyone there, and thanks for supporting the local Las Vegas underground scene!

Cloth And Canvas will be taking a hiatus for the month of May, as we get into the studio and lay down a new EP. I will, however, be blogging and myspacing and twittering to let everyone know of new shows as they are booked.

Until next time...

4/16 @ The BunkHouse

Wattap ya'll! P-Bluntz The Planner coming at 'ya with a recap of Cloth and Canvas' show at The Bunkhouse.

First of all, big props to HighDro for putting the night together, and special thanks to The Bunkhouse< for once again providing an awesome venue. Congrats to Rhyme n Rhythm and 4LBS (feat. That Nasty Thing) for layin' down some sick musical stylings and making the night great all-around.

Back to the show. Now I know I'm the band's biggest cheerleader, but I don't think many people would disagree with me when I say that the show was awesome! Really good energy from the crowd, and with Rhyme n Rhythm going on ahead of them, they really needed to step it up, and as I expected, they definitely rose to the occasion.

Crowd was enthusiastic and hyped, and the band really fed off of them and gave everyone an experience to remember with an awesome set. It was a night of firsts, in particular the premiere of Cloth and Canvas's newest song 'B-boy's Prayer'. A homage to hip-hop culture, Hassan speaks from the heart. I've included a video of their newest work for your viewing and listening pleasure.

"B-Boy's Prayer" - The Bunkhouse 04-15-09

Once again, big thanks to everybody who came out and supported both Cloth and Canvas and all the other acts, and our props to HighDro and The Bunkhouse for putting on an awesome show.

Remember...Cloth and Canvas's next outing is at Gallo's Pizza Kitchen on 4/24 @ 9:00 PM, for Survival of the Bands II. It's Round 2 ya'll, and we'd definitely if everybody came out and supported the band on their journey to the top.

Until next time...stay up.
